Ashker’s Juice Bar

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the downtown Buffalo area, Ashker’s Juice Bar is a BIG hot spot. I have only been here 2 times, but I cannot wait to come all summer long! This is one of those places that literally you want to order everything off the menu. Ashker’s is known for their healthy juices made with real fruits and vegetables that are pressed. It’s your typical breakfast, salad, panini, and wrap type place but everything is so unique and sounds unreal.

When I recently went I starred at the menu for at least 15 minutes. You go up to the register and place your order. Then a server will bring your food to you!

Ashker’s is located on the Elmwood strip! I LOVE ELMWOOD. If you are from Buffalo or around the area………go this summer for the day and just walk around and enjoy all of the shops, coffee shops, people, and other restaurants. It’s something fun definitely to do on a nice summer day.

OK ANYWAY,

back to the most important thing, FOOD ❤ ❤

I ordered the Tomato & Basil Grilled Cheese Panini………Ya I know..I cried. In the panini consisted of a blend of Parmesan, provolone, fresh basil, red onion, tomato, cheddar, & pepper-jack cheese. SO MUCH CHEESE I LOVE IT. This panini……damn. Whoever loves cheese needs this in their life.

It also came with side salad!!!!(I love salad lol) For a drink I ordered the “Zinger” freshly pressed juice. This was made out of carrot, apple, lemon, ginger, and orange. I love all of that healthy juice stuff so I literally chugged it.

HERE IT IS…..

The portion size was very filling(I’m surprised because usually it takes me 5 plates to get full). But no, this was really good. If you want to go and just hang out, be super creepy and people watch, and have an exceptional meal then I would highly recommend coming to Ashker’s!

Break’n Eggs Creperie

If you want a beyond belief breakfast meal, Break’n Eggs is the way to go. It is my hands down, favorite place to eat when I am home for breaks and in the summer. The little breakfast place opened not too long ago, and is extremely popular. Every time I’ve gone I wait at least 25 minutes and don’t even second guess leaving because this place is just THAT good. Every time I finish my meal from here I feel like a new women.

It has tons of different types of breakfast foods, crepes being their most popular choice. Savory crepes, sweet crepes, breakfast crepes, build your own crepes, you name it!!! I’ve never had a crepe until I have been to Break’n Eggs…..now I get it every time.

My first few times I’ve been there I got the same thing, and I didn’t try anything new for awhile because I was addicted. Like almost fell off my chair good. I got the breakfast crepe with two eggs and inside was bacon, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. On the side it came with home fries and fresh fruit. Before you eat a crepe from this magical place, you need to realize that you’re going to feel like you gained 10 pounds so you need to prepare and just know it’s worth every penny.

HERE IT IS …… r u ready?

SOOOO GOOD!!!!

Ok the next best thing in the world is the Beef Tenderloin Crepe…….. it comes with caramelized onions, mushrooms, goat cheese, with a blueberry chipotle sauce(I didn’t get the chipotle sauce instead I substituted for a monay sauce(AMAZING OMFG)). Also it came with a side salad with the best balsamic dressing!!!

GUYS. THIS. CREPE. CHANGED. MY. LIFE.

I don’t know how…. but it did. I’m not kidding every bite was unreal. Here is the gift from above….

Imperial Pizza

Pizza. What a beautiful word.

I am such pizza fan it’s not even funny. I’m ALWAYS in the mood for pizza. There are so many different kinds, different places to order from, toppings, etc. Pizza is for everyone!!!!

The other day I had tried the famous pizza place in South Buffalo– Imperial Pizza. A bunch of my friends that live in the Orchard Park area are pretty close to obsessed with it and freaked when I said I haven’t tried it.

So, last weekend, my boyfriend and I picked up a large standard cheese and pepperoni pizza, onion rings, and jalapeño poppers(SO skinny I know…) from Imperial! We drove to pick it up and I was sitting in the passenger seat with the pizza on my lap. Now, if you know me you’ll know that when I’m hungry….. I’m freakin hungry. It was absolute torture not being able to eat the food for like 15 min(lol). When we FINALLY arrived at his house I ran inside(more like hobbled, I have a broken foot lol), and immediately saw the face of an angel when I opened the pizza box. Here it is…..

10986461_10152820266857549_2152522929295046598_n

This pizza was VERY good! HUGE slices, and excellent pepperoni. However, I love A LOT of cheese and noticed that this pizza was a bit more saucy then it was cheesy. Nothing wrong!! I still absolutely loved it. But just for anyone who doesn’t like much sauce and want to try this pizza, you can just let them know to take it easy on the sauce. The appetizers we got were amazing too. There were SOOO many onion rings, A GOOD AMOUNT, as well as the jalapeño poppers.

I am from Williamsville, about 20 minutes away from this place and am so upset that I haven’t heard of it until recently! I know I will be going back here soon.

EBC Brewing Company!

I am so thankful that Fredonia, NY is the only EBC other than the original EBC in Ellicotville! I go out for dinner and drinks there weekly(even when I’m broke). EBC is a more upper class restaurant that brews their own speciality beers and has high quality food! I really enjoy going their because their menu features options from either not so healthy- to very healthy, so they have options for everyone! Whenever I go there, they always chance up their menu a little bit which is always interesting!

I went this past Friday for an earlier dinner with my boyfriend and for an appetizer we got the Bavarian Pretzels & Beer Cheese!!! I WISH WE ORDERED LITERALLY 7 OF THESE PLATES EACH I WAS FREAKING OUT.
The description is : Four (4) large Bavarian salted soft pretzels served with our delicious house-made beer cheese sauce.

And obviously I had to take a picture of this beauty because if I didn’t take a picture……did I really eat it?….

Almost EVERY TIME I get a burger from here. I always get the EBC Burger, just your standard traditional GOOD burger. This time I chose the Bacon Mushroom Burger!!!

Description: Grilled to your preference & topped with sauteed mushrooms, bacon, and your choice of provolone, Swiss, cheddar, or bleu-jack cheese.

Here is the picture of the burger I exhaled in under 10 minutes:

11061205_10152802099367549_2936353087287539018_n

Obviously I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly!

My boyfriend chose the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and loved it as well! There are so many amazing appetizers and entrees on this menu I would eat them all. If you ever do go to EBC and wonder what appetizers are good I would definitely recommend: The bruschetta(ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!!), the calamari, & pretzels and beer cheese!

UP NEXT……

The famous Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo!! Stay posted.

Sushi Lovers

I don’t know about any of you but I crave sushi like no other. Going to a small school with no a lot of food options(as you can tell from my previous posts), makes me rip my hair out because sometimes ya just need some good sushi to get ya through the day. When I’m home for breaks/summer in Buffalo, I AM IN HEAVEN. I try so many different sushi restaurants and every one I have tried I have not complained.

There are a lot of people who don’t give sushi a chance because 1) they have a bad experience by getting something questionable 2) they have literally never tried it. SUSHI IS GREAT PEOPLE. You don’t have to get raw fish. One of my FAVORITE rolls I get every single time I go anywhere is the sweet potato roll. Absolutely NO fish. It is just so good. Seriously, there are options for everyone in any Japanese restaurant. I PROMISE you will find something you like.

I went to Fuji Grill over the winter break and it was AMAZING.

I selected 3 regular hand rolls and each roll came with 6 pieces. Total of 30 pieces of sushi! I picked eel avocado, sweet potato, and spicy crab. I finished my whole plate in I think under 7 minutes. I definitely recommend going to this place if you are in the Buffalo area! I went to the restaurant on Maple Road even though there are I think 3 other Fuji Grill’s aside from that one. The price also is very reasonable and the employees are friendly.

Experimenting in the Kitchen!!!

The past few weeks instead of actually eating campus food everyday, I have been making A LOT of food. The inspiration came from all of the food pictures on the Instagram and Twitter accounts I follow( literally only look at pictures of food)

When I am home from school on breaks, I had absolutely zero interest in wanting to do anything other than sit on the couch and watch Netflix, and beg my mom to make me endless amounts of pasta, pizza, and anything basically unhealthy for you. But I realized was because I was afraid to even try making anything. Mainly because I had no idea what the hell anything in the kitchen was.

Seriously, after reading all of the recipes that people post and to see actual visuals of how things are made, made me think that I could do it if I really took the time and learned/practiced. After making tons of different breakfast, lunches, and dinners, I now feel a lot more confident and the hardest part is over! NOW IM A FREAKIN CHEF(not really). Practicing with many of the same ingredients, vegetables, sauces, all have made me now know what goes and what doesn’t go well together.

Below are some of the meals that I have made during the past week or so! Super easy and good.

This “pasta dish” isn’t actually pasta!! It’s spaghetti squash!!!! I definitely recommend anyone who is trying to be healthier and cut out A LOT of carbs. ITS GOOD IF YOU SEASON, SALT, ADD SAUCE. Not plain lol just like any plain pasta isn’t good. Cooking spaghetti squash takes about 40 minutes in the oven and then all you do is just scrap the “noodles” just like how it looks below. I then sautéed spinach, mushrooms, onions, and shrimp over a light Alfredo sauce. This meal was filling and very healthy.

11066525_10152758884497549_5161191966515652372_n

This sandwich took about 3 minutes to make TOPS. On rye bread I spread ricotta cheese, then placed spinach and tomato on top with balsamic dressing. Then I put the sandwich in a frying pan and just toasted each side for about 1 minute each.

The picture below is a dinner my friends and I made last week! Ground turkey, spices, red pasta sauce, sautéed vegetables melted with cheese in a stuffed pepper, avocado egg rolls, garlic parmesan pasta, and roasted sweet potatoes and carrot chips. We really couldn’t believe that we made all of that but it was honestly so much fun to make and the time went by very quick just being with other people in the kitchen!

A Hidden Gem in Fredonia, New York

Going to a campus with LIMITED restaurants and cafes when you are an absolute food lover is literally painful. I don’t know how I made it for the past 4 years in Fredonia. Seriously, I don’t understand why they can’t just put in an Olive Garden or a Mighty Taco or ANYTHING ELSE besides Applebees, Wing City, Burger King, McDonalds, AND EVERY OTHER FAST FOOD PLACE IN THE HISTORY OF FAST FOOD. The campus food too is on a different level. Everything sucks.

UNTIL ……… KASIA.

My friends have introduced me to Kasia last semester and couldn’t be more thankful that they did. Kasia is a coffee shop/cafe where they have delicious breakfast foods, panini’s, soups, pizza, etc. This isn’t the cheapest place in the world for a college student’s bank account who is suffering but isn’t ridiculously expensive either. I’d say for the quality of the food, the prices that they offer is what it should be. If you love going to coffee shops regularly to sit down, relax, and do some homework, this is the place for you!

On their Facebook page, they post pictures of their new featured sandwich or soup that they are offering for the week. I always end up getting whatever that is because the picture looks SO good haha. So, before going I recommend going to the Facebook page really quick and see what the special is for the day!

It’s a slower atmosphere with how long the food takes to come out, but it is definitely worth it. The sandwich I got this week was the Greek Veggie Panini!!!! On it is roasted red pepper, fresh tomato and onion, olives and feta cheese topped with sauteed eggplant and hummus. SO GOOD. 3rd time I’ve gotten it in the last 2 weeks!

Pizza Hut

Ever since I was little Pizza Hut has been known for a bad reputation, which is why I guess I have never gone/no one has never wanted to go with me. I LOVE PIZZA. How could pizza be THAT awful if it is still in business for this long, am I right? So, out of the 4 years of college and having a Pizza Hut 3 minutes away and not going, I decided I absolutely 100% need to go….on Valentines Day…. lol

My boyfriend and I were about to make a nice steak dinner, but then while scrolling on Twitter the Pizza Hut feed came up and said to create your own pizza online and order it… we looked at each other and immediately said HELL YEA let’s do it. DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT CRUST FLAVORS, CRUST TYPES, SAUCE SPREADS, AND DRIZZLE SAUCES TO CHOOSE FROM? CUZ I DIDN’T.

Literally I was in awe. I didn’t even know what to do. I was more upset that I was just finding out about this now because I would have ordered Pizza Hut every single day. Ok, so I like pizza but also healthy and my boyfriend HATES the fact that I like healthy stuff on pizza(idk) so we did half and half.

HERE IS THE PICTURE OF GODS GIFT TO US ALL

Thin N crispy crust, creamy garlic parmesan sauce, garlic buttery blend flavor crust, topped with balsamic glaze. Toppings were pepperoni, banana peppers(left), and spinach and tomatoes(right)

11035619_10152748063067549_4911610328453003179_n

SERIOUSLY THIS WAS THE BEST THING I’VE EVER HAD.

The next week we actually went into Pizza Hut and sat down lol. it is my new favorite place. SO PEOPLE, COMING FROM A PIZZA EXPERT, PIZZA HUT IS AMAZING AND YOU CAN ORDER YOUR PIZZA ANY WAY YOU FREAKIN WANT.

Please go. ❤

The Struggle

This semester I’ve actually been trying to cook a lot more by doing weird healthyish recipes that I find all over the internet. That being said, spring break is coming up. 3 weeks until Dominican Republic with all of my friends that have 6 pack abs from doing nothing but eat Big Macs(NOT FAIR). I don’t know how people eat “clean” for every single meal of the week and also have a strict work out plan. How do these people have the freaking time is what I want to know?

I promised myself I would eat super healthy for the past month but then again I ate 5 slices of pizza at Pizza Hut today as well as jaelopeno poppers(AMAZING)… so good for me. I also promised myself I wouldn’t eat past 9 and I’m sitting here typing this post eating popcorn and MORE pizza.

So my whole thing is, is it worth for me being an evil starving bitch for the next 3 weeks and could maybe look and feel better, OR eat whatever the hell I want at anytime and hate myself on the trip because I could of done something about it? IDK THE STRUGGLE IS ACTUALLY TOO REAL THOUGH.

SOooOO for me trying to me on the healthy side of the spectrum, I made pizzas out of whole grain and flax seed pita bread with and olive oil and basil tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and jalapeño with cut sweet potato fries yesterday for lunch. This literally took me 20 minutes tops!!!! I recommend doing this if you’re a pizza lover.11037639_10152740771802549_936753775737749914_n

My Love For Food

Ever since since I was little, my parents used to call me the garbage disposal and that I had the appetite of a grown man at the age of 7. I was ALWAYS hungry. I was the child that actually got upset when dinner was 5 minutes late and would eat a snack in the meantime just because it would physically pain me to wait. Crazy, I know. Still today, being 21 born and raised in Buffalo, New York, nothing has changed. People ask me why I am not 1000 pounds, I really don’t know to be honest but I’m sure happy that I’m not because I love food way too much.

Everyone that follows me on Twitter or Instagram, know’s my love for food. I retweet pictures of food, upload pictures, or am talking about it saying how hungry I always am. I even have pizza logs as my Twitter header for crying out loud. I basically will eat anything, I can go from eating 4 slices of pizza and a cheeseburger to eating a salad and a whole tomato like it’s an apple(I know that’s weird). I eat EVERYTHING, and do eat anything at any given time during the day. I don’t understand how some people can ONLY eat breakfast food for breakfast.. sometimes in high school I would have leftover steak and mashed potatoes and am feel like I’m on the top of the world.

My posts will be a whole variety of things relating to food. I take pictures A LOT of my food especially if I think I am a chef and artsy or that it just looks that freaking good when the server brings it to me and result in  having a panic attack from excitement. So yes, favorite: restaurants, types of food, food trucks, home cooked meals, healthy recipes that I’ve tried, specific ingredients that make me cringe, etc. You get the point.

To leave you with something that will make your day or night though, just look at this beautiful cheeseburger, The Southwest, that I had eaten this past summer at the restaraunt Bar Louie in Buffalo. Guacamole AND jalapeños on a burger is a dream come true, AM I RIGHT?
